Museum of Regional Prehistory
The museum takes its name from a permanent exhibition that opened in 1988. It is located in a building constructed in 1909 to house Menton’s Civic Museum, founded in 1878. The prehistoric exhibits represent sites in the Maritime Alps and Liguria in a way that illustrates a million years of prehistoric man’s evolution in Europe, right up to the Bronze Age. The display on regional Antiquity, which was created in connection with the Via Julia Augusta itinerary, follows a chronological sequence from the Iron Age to the Middle Ages.
