Albintimilium
To the right of the Nervia stream, the town of Albintimilium began to develop in the second century B.C., becoming a flourishing centre of the Roman Empire, as is testified by the presence of public baths, a theatre, noble houses (domus), residential areas (insulae), rich mosaics and numerous potteries items, some of them imported, that have been found in the excavations. The Via Iulia Augusta ran through Albintimilium, following the line of the decumano massimo, the high street on an east-west axis, which was paved with slabs of white limestone brought from La Turbie.
